Schedule an Appointment

Taxpayers may call 855-663-5224 or email vita@nekcavt.org to schedule a tax appointment and request paperwork. Taxpayers may schedule their appointment at NEKCA in St Johnsbury, Newport, Island Pond or Canaan.

Full instructions will be explained in the initial call or email when scheduling an appointment.

• Call or email for an appointment
• Bring paperwork, ID and all tax docs to the brief, in-person appointment.
• VITA volunteer will prepare return remotely and call taxpayer when it is ready to be picked up – approximately two weeks later.
• Some limited evening and Saturday afternoon appointments will be available those who work full time. Call for more information. 

Newport Location: 

76 Lakemont Rd, Newport, VT  (New VITA location for 2026!) 

Tax appointments available: 

Every Monday 9:00am to 3:00pm from February 2, 2026 to April 15, 2026 

(Our Newport office will be closed Monday, February 16th in observation of President’s Day)

St Johnsbury Location: 

1197 Main, St. Johnsbury, VT  (New VITA location for 2026!) 

Tax appointments available: 

Every Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Starting February 3, 2026 to April 15, 2026 

Island Pond and Canaan Locations: 

Please call for appointment and locations as they vary based on need throughout the tax season.

Head Start centers: Appointments can be made as requested at any NEKCA Head Start location listed at the bottom of this page.

If we have to close due to weather during tax season, we will be posting on our NEKCA Facebook page and on irs.gov. 

Become a Volunteer

You don’t need to be a tax expert or a math whiz to be a VITA program volunteer. From answering the doors and helping folks fill out forms, to filing taxes, we provide yearly training to become an IRS certified volunteer. Whether you’re a student, working full time, or retired, there’s a place for you as a volunteer.
