Since 1988, the Micro-business Development Program has helped to strengthen the economic self-sufficiency of more than 10,000 Vermonters as well as the economic vitality of our communities. We have helped launch or expand more than 2,100 Vermont businesses, created thousands of jobs, and helped entrepreneurs leverage more than $15 million in financing.
We can help with:
One-to-one business counseling: Experienced counselors, who have owned their own businesses and intimately understand the challenges and rewards, offer support from the start of your vision, through the planning stages, all the way to launch day. From there, we offer continued support to help you meet your goals and maintain and grow a successful business. For clients who have established businesses, we can offer assistance specific to your needs.
Business Workshops: We offer periodic workshops covering every topic a budding or established entrepreneur needs to know in order to start, maintain, and grow a business. Check out our Workshops for more information!
Funding Opportunities: The NEK Prosperity Fund is a project of NEK Prosper, Northeast Kingdom Community Action (NEKCA), and Community Capital of Vermont. We created the NEK Prosperity Fund to organize and focus investment on equity and population health. The loan fund, administered by Community Capital of Vermont, will redistribute capital to qualified entrepreneurs and non-profit organizations to grow in the Northeast Kingdom. Loan recipients will receive enhanced business support services from financial and business counselors from NEKCA.
