NEKCA’s Youth Advocacy are grounded in forming authentic and supportive relationships with young adults in the Northeast Kingdom. Our programs support youth in developing healthy habits and mindsets, meeting personal goals, and developing strong connections within their community using a strengths-based approaches.
Youth Development Program:
Supports youth who have been in DCF custody or currently in State custody and over the age of 14. The support includes case management, life skills, education, budgeting, employment, normalcy, health and wellness, as well as financial support.
Transitional Living and Housing Support:
Assists youth in developing the life and living skills necessary to aid in the transition to independent living and adulthood. Educational resources include budgeting, employment, application assistance, etc.
Case management and support is provided to youth and young adults who receive tenant based rental assistant with vouchers and administered monthly rental payments. Mediation is offered to support clients with communication with landlords, mitigating issues and concerns which arise to ensure secure housing for the youth and young adults.
COMPASS:
Designed for families with youth aged 12-23. COMPASS Services assist families with developing parenting strategies and the knowledge necessary to keep families together. Conflict mediation and strengthening communication supports are provided through our COMPASS services.
