FOOD IS THE MOST BASIC OF NEEDS
Here at NEKCA we have the following ways to help you and your family get the food that you need:
Community Food Shelves – like a FOOD PANTRY – when you need food!
feed seniors, working families with children, people with limited resources, those who are home bound or homeless, and many others. Be sure to call one of our locations below to check on times and dates before you come to pick up the food you need!
is a federal USDA program (formerly called “food stamps”) that can help stretch your food budget so you can put three healthy meals on your table every day.
Eligibility: Working families who get the Vermont Earned Income Tax Credit can qualify. Monthly benefits average over $200 per month for families with children. You may also be eligible if you’re a senior, have a disability or simply have limited resources, or someone who is home bound or homeless. The best way to find out if you are eligible is call or visit one of the NEKCA offices below and we will help you apply. You can also apply online.
Farm to Family Coupons will help you buy fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables at participating Famers’ Markets.
In partnership with the Vermont Department for Children and Families, NEKCA distributes Farm to Family coupons each year. You may be eligible if your household income is up to 185% of the federal poverty level; families who receive WIC benefits through the Vermont Health Department are also eligible.
Coupon distribution begins in late June and is done on a first come, first served basis until all the coupons are gone. For more information, contact a NEKCA office below.
